Privacy film: Applied to standard clear glass after installation. Less durable than factory glass options. Can peel in humid bathroom environments. Not recommended for BC coastal climate.
Clear glass acceptable situations: Window faces fence, wall, or direction where no sightlines exist. Second-floor or higher bathroom where neighbors can’t see in. These are rare – most bathroom windows need obscured glass.

Moisture resistance: Vinyl is essentially inert. Water can’t penetrate it, rot it, or deteriorate it. After 20 years in high-humidity bathroom, quality vinyl frames look identical to installation day.
Thermal performance: Vinyl is naturally insulating material. Add multi-chamber frame design and you get excellent U-factors preventing interior surface temperatures from dropping to condensation range.
No corrosion: Bathroom humidity combined with cleaning chemicals accelerates corrosion on metal components. Vinyl doesn’t corrode. Hardware might, but frame never does.

Wood Frames in Bathrooms: Avoid

Rain pattern: Medium obscurity – shows movement and shapes from outside but no identifying details. Transmits slightly more light than frosted. Aesthetic preference drives choice between rain and frosted.
Reeded pattern: Vertical texture creating medium-high privacy. Strong directional aesthetic – works well in bathrooms with modern or craftsman design.
