ENERGY STAR Program

We’ve all noticed poorly performing windows and doors. You can feel the uncomfortable drafts, see the condensation or even frost on the windowsill. The results? Higher energy bills, mould build-up and discomfort from drafts.

All of Vinyltek’s windows and doors are rated by ENERGY STAR, an international symbol of energy efficiency. This means you can be sure every window and door in your home meets a premium level of energy efficiency. You’ll not only reduce your energy consumption and save money, but reduce mould and dust build-up, condensation  and those pesky drafts.

What is an ENERGY STAR qualified window?

To qualify for ENERGY STAR, each window must have many of the following attributes:

• Double or triple glazing with an insulated glass unit
• Low conductivity or warm edge spacer bars
• Insulated frames, sashes and door cores
• Very airtight

How much will I save on my energy bills?

On a home renovation, you will typically save about 7% on your energy bills by replacing your windows and doors. With new homes, you can realize about a 12% savings over purchasing standard windows and doors, a greater savings as new homes typically have more windows and doors.

How are Energy Star qualified windows and doors certified?

All windows and doors are certified by an independent accredited agency. The certification process looks at total product value (U-value) and the energy rating value. These values are calculated based on the window’s ability to lower the overall energy costs of a typical single family zone in each of four climate zones.

Do Climate Zones Matter?

Yes. ENERGY STAR rates windows and doors are based on four climate zones, with Zone A being the warmest, and Zone D the coldest. Vinyltek windows are rated Zone D. This means you can be sure your windows and doors will be energy efficient no matter where you live across Canada.
